Youth National Education Funding Scheme

Purpose

Introduction

The Commission on Youth (the Commission) is going to launch a new funding scheme in 2009, namely Youth National Education Funding Scheme, to sponsor community organisations to organise large scale or a series of activities in order to promote national education in an in-depth manner amongst the Hong Kong youth, enhance their understanding of our home country and strengthen their sense of national identity.  The projects should include the following four elements :

  1. The organisations should set a theme for the projects and to plan the activities accordingly.

  2. The projects should include large scale or a series of activities to promote national education amongst youth.  The activities should be held both in Hong Kong and in the Mainland.

  3. The activities in the Mainland should include exchange programmes with the Mainland people, voluntary services, training courses, seminars, practical work placement etc. with a view to enhancing the Hong Kong youth’s understanding of their home country.

  4. The projects should include an assessment mechanism to evaluate how youth’s understanding of their home country and their sense of national identity have been enhanced; and how they have shared their experience with and promoted the scheme to members of the community, the youth in particular.
The projects must be carried out and completed between 1 July 2009 and 31 December 2010.
